We believe every accomplished writer carries within them both the sturdy oak of their achievements and the tender acorn of their next breakthrough. This space exists for those moments between—the quiet contemplations, the creative struggles, and the profound discoveries that shape our writing lives.
We are LeeAnn Weaver & Lindsey Vernon, co-founders of Acorn Experiences, LLC. We've created our blog, From Acorn to Oak, as a sanctuary for the deeper conversations about what it means to live as a writer. Having met through Fairfield University's MFA program, we've witnessed how the creative journey extends far beyond craft and technique. It encompasses the daily choices, the inner dialogues, and the delicate balance between vulnerability and strength that defines our artistic lives.
Here, you'll find essays that honor the complexity of the writing experience from navigating the tender exposure that comes with sharing our truest work to celebrating the micro victories that propel us forward. We explore what sustains creativity, what rejuvenates our perspective, and how we can reframe the expectations we place on ourselves as we pursue this demanding yet essential calling.
This blog emerges from our work with Acorn Experiences, where we've had the privilege of witnessing accomplished writers reconnect with their creative core during our intimate retreats. The conversations that unfold in those sacred spaces about process, purpose, and the courage to continue deserve a wider audience.
Perhaps you're wrestling with a stubborn manuscript that refuses to reveal its secrets. Maybe you're experimenting with something new that challenges everything you thought you knew about your own voice. Or you might be questioning your creative worth while simultaneously seeking community among fellow writers who understand the particular joy and torment of this path.
Whatever brings you here, we welcome you! Let's grow together!
